NBA 2K23 is now finally out, which means it’s time to dive into the game’s MyPlayer creation suite to build some demigods! Let’s take a look at some quintessential NBA 2K23 best builds for the My Player Builder, and guide you through each position.

With each new year comes a new range of quirky additions and refinements to the My Player creation suite, and the NBA 2K development team has undoubtedly made efforts to make it harder to build players with shades of NBA stars. Point distribution across the different attributes is just a matter of working from the top down, and you often need to target specific areas first before the others, otherwise you could find yourself locked out from adding additional points to other key attributes.

If you want to craft a player that’s truly destined for NBA stardom, this guide can certainly be a starting point.
After countless hours over the past few days refining and testing out these builds, I believe these are the best players to help you work and battle your way through The City and My Career, and guide your created build and player to stardom in NBA 2K23
It’s worthy noting that these builds are by my standards the best suited to each position: I haven’t created players that are simply fun to play, but rather players that most realistically suite the position. You can take these builds merely as foundations and adjust and edit them as you see fit, however it’s likely that the NBA players of which the build has “shades” of will definitely change.
NOTE: These builds are for the Xbox Series X/S and PS5 versions of NBA 2K23

Best PG Builds
Build 1: 2-Way Playshot with shades of Jason Williams, Fred VanVleed and Mike Conley
Body Settings
- Height: 6’2″
- Weight: 193 lbs
- Wingspan: 6’10
Attributes
The target with this build is strong defensive awareness and finishing, providing a layer of explosiveness that makes it an incredibly fun build to play with. Additionally, we have strong ball handling and pace, making quick off-dribble moves and passing proficiency a key attribute stack.
Takeovers
Select “Extreme Clamps” and “Anklebreaking Shots”
Build 2: Sharpshooting Shot Creator with shades of Trae Young and Darius Garland
Body Settings
Height: 6’3″
Weight: 203 lbs
Wingspan: 7’0″
Attributes
I’m targeting a strong shooter with solid clamps and good ball handling. We compromise some finishing skills but this build can create space and hit shots off the dribble. They also have high capacity to cause then turnover so we want to identify finishers that target individual defense.
Takeovers
Extreme Clamps and Anklebreaking shots. You’ll end up with a Sharpshooting Shot Creator with shades of Trae Young.

Build 1: Interior Finisher with Shades of LeBron James and DeMar DeRozan
Body Settings
- Height: 6’9″
- Weight: 250 lbs
- Wingspan: 6’11”
Attributes
As one might expect for a LeBron James build, we’ve got a fairly rounded overall build across the badges available.
Takeovers
Select “Pull-Up Precision” and “Limitless Range”
You’ll end up with an Interior Finisher with shades of LeBron James and DeMar DeRozan.
Build 2: 2-Way Playshot with shades of Latrell Sprewell, Paul George, and RJ Barrett
Body Settings
- Height: 6’8″
- Weight: 237 lbs
- Wingspan: 7’0″
Attributes
I’ve targeted Shooting, Playmaking and Defense with this build, at a compromise to Finishing attributes. There’s still good power there with the driving dunk, however, so if you can pull off an effective pick and get space there’s a lot of room and shoot prowess available with this build.
Takeovers
Extreme Clamps and Anklebreaking Shots give this build defensive and offensive efficiency for a super powerful two-way forward.
Best PF Builds
Build 1: Glass-Cleaning Finisher with Shades of Zion Williamson
Body Settings
- Height: 6’8″
- Weight: 262 lbs
- Wingspan: 7’6″
Attributes
This is a clunky but still fund build to play around with and I recommend giving it a shot.
Takeovers
Select “Finishing Moves” and “Power Backdowns”
You’ll end up with an Interior Finisher with shades of Zion Williamson.
Build 2: Paint Beast with Shades of Giannis Antetokounmpo
Body Settings
- Height: 6’8″
- Weight: 262 lbs
- Wingspan: 7’6″
Attributes
This build compromises a bit in the way of shooting but unless you want to go down the path of Shaq and have a slow, lumbering build, you almost need to stack literally every other attribute build to ensure you still have some pass and solid ball handling skills. This build has great finishing skills and defensive awareness, so you should be effective on the defensive end to feed into the fast break.
Takeovers
Select “Glass Clearing Dimes” and “Stuff Blocks”
You’ll end up with a Paint Beast with shades of Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Best Centre Builds
Build 1: Diming 3-Level Scorer with shades of Nikola Jokic, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Domantas Sabonis
